Interview with Lana Solaire

Lana Solaire is a model from Texas who is bridging the gap between her two adult industry careers. She’s a popular live webcam broadcaster on and she recently made her major studio debut on Femout.XXX  in a killer video and photo set. Lana has something special that transcends good looks – an intangible quality that I couldn’t wait to to tap into in our interview. I hope you’ll enjoy it!

Caramel: One of the first reactions I got from you online was happiness. That effect doesn’t usually happen to me often off the bat, but you have an infectiously positive disposition. Are you aware of this trait and the effect it has on people?

Lana: First of all, thank you so much for the interview! I have a feeling this is gonna be really fun! And yes, haha. I’ve been told at times I can be too happy, actually. I am entirely aware about the effect it has on people, though. Sometimes a smile can make the world of a difference in someone’s life. I come from the belief that if you put goodness and happiness out there that you’ll get it back a hundredfold. You reap what you sow after all.

Caramel: I couldn’t agree with you more. This transferrable sense of happiness I’m referring to is a refreshingly brand you can only get from bright people. What sort of student were you and is your education still continuing?

Lana: Oh, gosh I was a terrible student!!! School was exceedingly difficult for me, for more than just the typical reasons. I was and still am a voracious reader, though. And I still loved to learn things, even if the mainstream education didn’t go so well. Currently though, my education is put on a hiatus. Not to say I’m not going to continue it, though. It’d be nice to study something that I’d like for a change! xD

Caramel: How old were you when it dawned on you that you might be trans?

Lana: I came from a very conservative, very evangelical family. I mean, I didn’t know trans people existed until I was 14. And even then, I still couldn’t admit it to myself until I was 20. I was afraid and I thought I was alone since I didn’t have anyone that I could really talk to about it. When I was little I used to play with my Wizard of Oz dolls, and watch Jem and the Holograms VHS tapes, and Care Bears, and Rainbow Brite, but that wasn’t how little boys were meant to act, so I tried to do what I was supposed to. Those were some dark times for me, and I really don’t like talking to much about. But you know? I really think deep down that I knew from the start, and I have no regrets. We’re all where we are for a reason.

Caramel: When did you share your desire to transition with your friends and family and how did they react initially?

Lana: I came out to everyone about a year ago. My mother was shocked at first and didn’t really understand. My siblings however were totally fine with it. My friends were all supportive when I told them and I got a lot of well wishes, it was nice. Sad to say that didn’t last and I lost a large chunk of my old friends due to my transition. But I’m better off without them. 😀

Caramel: Are your close and extended family members accepting now? Did you lose anyone because of your journey?

Lana: Yes! My family is entirely accepting of me. My immediate family that is, which clocks in at a total of three people. I’m pretty much dead to the rest of my family, but I don’t want people like that in my life anyways.

Caramel: Certainly not. Do you come from a family with a creative background?

Lana: Yes and no, haha. My father was a fantastic writer. He didn’t sell any novels or anything, but he was extremely creative. My brother is a creative type too. He does web and graphic design. But that’s about it, as far as I know at least.

Caramel: Are you Houston, Texas born and bred?

Lana: I was born in San Antonio actually, but I moved from there a year or so after I was born. We lived in a few small towns in Texas, always visiting family in Houston, but we didn’t move there until I was about seven. Houston is definitely my home though! I might as well have been born here. It’s basically all I know. <3

Caramel: What’s the one thing about being a Southern girl that people don’t know about you?

Lana: I can catch, clean, fillet and cook a catfish on an open fire on the side of the bayou. I also make some awesome cornbread!

Caramel: I remember seeing one of your seafood dishes on Twitter. It looked yummy. You got on Twitter around late April 2016 with your account. How important do you feel social media is to a model’s success and interaction with fans?

Lana: It’s mega important! Social Media seems like a necessity nowadays. Take Twitter for example, it’s more than just connecting with fans (which is in and of itself mega important). It’s networking with other people in the industry, it’s building a brand and an image, and it’s an online presence. Plus, you make new friends! And I’m all about making new friends.

Caramel: How long have you been cam modeling?

Lana: Honestly, not very long. About as long as my Twitter’s been up! But, there was a few times a year or so back that I had a small little go at camming. But, I ended up stopping at that time and focused more on my transition. A teeny tiny break. I never made anything those times anyways!

Caramel: How has cam modeling has positively influenced your life?

Lana: Well, besides the obvious answers (ego boost, money, gifts) I think it’s helped me to be ok with who I am, my body, everything. I’ve never really been shy sexually. At all. And camming gives me an outlet for that. I’ve also met some really great people, too.

Caramel: When I saw your Femout.XXX debut, I knew it would be great before I even saw it having been familiar with your webcam shows. Do you think that experience gave you an edge when it came to doing studio adult work?

Lana: A bit yeah! I guess for one, it helped that I was comfortable being in front of a camera and having people watch me. And figuring out certain poses and stuff too, I suppose. Would I say it gave me an edge? No, not really! But can it give others an edge? Most definitely. It’s all confidence though! You gotta’ believe in yourself!

Caramel: Were you nervous about your first Grooby shoot with Omar Wax?

Lana: Me? Nervous? No way!! Haha, I was super nervous, of course!! I had to give myself a little pep talk on the way over, actually. It was a speech worthy of a Care Bears movie. But Omar was super nice and we got along great. I got into the rhythm of things pretty quick and I think it turned out really well!

Caramel: I always hear that Omar has a positive vibe and friendliness that puts models at ease. Do you have a style or type of music you like to listen to while doing cam shows?

Lana: I’m all over with the music I listen to on cam! A good staple of my shows is Future Funk type music with some Vaporwave thrown in to relax. I love putting on J-Pop and Eurodance and bouncing around on my bed. Sometimes, I put on some Third Wave Ska Punk and get all happy or put on some Houston rappers and get real for a minute haha. I like a lot of different types of music.

Caramel: What is the most bizarre request you’ve received on cam?

Lana: One time I sang a song to someone “about a Yeti who wanted to eat spaghetti on a dune in the Serengeti”. It was a pretty specific request. But I obliged. Could have been a number one hit. Sexually though? Someone wanted me to stick my big toe in my butt. I don’t know if he was serious, but it was bizarre though, so it counts!

Caramel: It would have been even more bizarre if both requests came from the same guy! So what is the item of clothing/lingerie that makes you feel the most sexy on cam?

Lana: I love my little red polka dot thong and all my short shorts. I like to dress pretty casually, but I put a cute edge to it! I also really love super tight t-shirts for some reason. I think it’s sexy at least! My style is still a work in progress!

Caramel: Do you have any plans for special guest appearances in the future?

Lana: I do actually! I can’t say anything about it right now though!!! You’ll see soon enough! <3

Caramel: When the time comes to announce it, you can count on me doing my part to get help spread the word. What is your best advice for new broadcasters on Chaturbate?

Lana: Be yourself! Sure, you can have a persona if you want. But I’ve found that just being myself attracts way more people than one would think. And all of us have something special inside that makes them who they are, you just need to let it out and people will gravitate towards you. Be genuine! It also helps to ask questions to friends who cam, or even to other models that you admire. If you don’t know, ask someone! You can learn a lot just by asking a simple question. Don’t be afraid. I’ve found there are more good people out there than bad. And make friends!!! We’re all in this together, it’s not worth it to do it all on your own. And most importantly, believe in yourself. Because if you try your very best, you can do nearly anything.

Caramel: What is your favorite Chaturbate app?

Lana: Wheel of Fortune!!! Mostly ’cause it has spanks on it, haha. I’ve been meaning to try out some new ones though, so maybe I just got a little push! ;3

Caramel: You’re working it just fine! What is your favorite post show activity?

Lana: Shower and cartoons!!! After my shows I got have a shower, get all fresh and squeaky clean, then snuggle up in bed and watch some cartoons. Sometimes though, I go play video games online with my friends and eat pizza. That’s always fun. :3

Caramel: What has been your favorite show you’ve done?

Lana: Probably my first show! I found out that I could actually do it and have fun with it. Was kinda a realization that, “Yeah, this could be a thing”.

Caramel: A big thing the way I see it! Do you have an signature talents or shows your regulars look forward to? What are your favorite fetishes/requests you both cater to on webcam?

Lana: Oh, I’m not that special really! I can put my legs behind my head, which is something neat I guess! People love it when I get spanked though, also the cumshots, but I think everyone loves those haha. My favorite requests are probably doing RP’s or using my toys.

Caramel: What are you favorite sex toys?

Lana: I love plugs, they’re really neat. I have a cute little icicle one that I use quite frequently. Gotta build up my collection though!

Caramel: Oh, don’t we all?! As a fellow kinkster, one of the first things I learned about BDSM and fetish is never to assume that someone isn’t a kinkster by from their outward appearance. But I must confess that I didn’t think of that side of you until I saw you tied up. How long have you been into the BDSM and/or fetish lifestyles?

Lana: Yup! I’m not all bubblegum and rainbows! I’m actually pretty fresh in that actually! That was actually my first time actually doing it! I’d been wanting to try it for a while, but had never gotten a chance. Luckily, I had a friend who was more than happy to oblige. I had a good time! xD

Caramel: It’s always good to have someone to show you the ropes and please pardon the pun. Are you more of a top, bottom or verse?

Lana: I’m more versatile. Although I can be extremely submissive and stuff, I don’t mind taking charge. I’m a people pleaser.

Caramel: Awesome. How would you describe your sexual orientation?

Lana: I would say that I’m pan with a strong leaning toward other girls. I like guys too, but I’m quite particular. I just like who I like, I suppose. I don’t give it too much thought.

Caramel: Hooray for pansexuality! Moving in another direction, what vape flavors do you like and when did you start vaping?

Lana: I started vaping around the time I started HRT. I come from a family of heavy smokers, so as expected I started smoking when I was around 13. Can’t be doing that anymore! So, an awesome fan bought me a box mod and it’s been pretty awesome since! I like a lot of tropical flavors, like mango or cherries. Candy ones are always good too. Right now I’m vaping Fruit Gushers and it’s pretty great, if I do say so myself.

Caramel: I’ll have to try those. Do you like to mix cosplay and sex in your personal life or just for modeling?

Lana: Definitely, it’s something I enjoy after all!

Caramel: Are you a big anime fan?

Lana: I’m a huge anime fan! Ever since I was really small and rented Akira, and Slayers VHS tapes from the Hollywood Video near my house. It’s been a pretty big part of my life since then. Some of my favorite series are: Akazukin Chacha, One Piece, Bubblegum Crisis, Paranoia Agent, Slayers, Creamy Mami, Fushigi Mahou Fun Fun Pharmacy, Revolutionary Girl Utena, All of Sailor Moon, and gosh there’s so many more, I really like magical girl anime and a lot of shonen stuff. I’ve been meaning to start a blu-ray collection of all my favorites or at least an HTPC to store it all on.

Caramel: MAC or PC?

Lana: PC all the way! Different strokes for different folks and all, but for me a PC is just a no brainer. Mostly because I’m a big gamer and you really can’t game on a MAC. Though for editing I suppose MACs are neat. It’s just not for me.

Caramel: I love a lot of MAC about features and benefits, but it’s not flexible enough for me either. You play play ukulele. How long have you been playing?

Lana: I started playing the ukulele freshman year of High School. I was inspired by hearing Jake Shimabukuro play and I decided I’d try and teach myself. I’m still not the best really, I mostly just goof around and just do simple things, but I’m happy I learned. It’s helped me a lot since then.

Caramel: When I learned that you played ukulele, I didn’t expect to hear R&B and EDM in your Soundcloud link. I really the beautiful way you play the instrument and you have some heartbreaking instrumentals. You sing well and I especially love “Little Lies” so please tell me you intend to pursue a music career and not just let it be a hobby.

Lana: Oh, wow! Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoy my music, especially the instrumentals! They were written with love so there’s a special power in ‘em. It’s funny you ask about a music career though, because that was my plan at first! When I learned ukulele I did a bunch of shows around downtown Houston, doing comedy ukulele pop punk shows. I never got paid or anything, but it was fun! Sadly, at the moment, my music is just a hobby. But I have a feeling that’s going to change sooner or later, so don’t you worry! You can’t keep the song outta’ my heart!

Caramel: Please list some hobbies you enjoy in your free time when you’re not modeling or playing music?

Lana: I love to play video games, card games, I like going out and doing stuff on occasion, and I love the Zoo. It’s probably one of my favorite places in Houston to go to. I love film and really like watching classic movies and all sorts of obscure stuff. I write occasionally, some poetry and short stories, and I read a lot of old folklore and fairy tales. I’ve actually started a collection of fairy tales, which is pretty neat. :3

Caramel: If you could travel anywhere, where would you like to go?

Lana: I’d love to visit Scandinavia someday, it’s really a beautiful part of the world and would love to see it. I’d also love to travel all over the country someday, from coast to coast. I really like seeing new places and traveling.

Caramel: Do you have any pets?

Lana: I do! I have a little Nebelung cat and he’s a character, he bangs on my door during cam shows and demands to be let in! I love him either way though.

Caramel: So cute! How do you eat fast food and candy and stay so fit? Is it because you’ve achieved a balance by cooking healthy foods and with exercise?

Lana: Welp, I actually were really big in high school, I weighed about 260. Then I caught two pneumonia right after another and I ended up losing a bunch of weight. I wouldn’t recommend that for weight loss though, I almost died and it was pretty scary. My diet is a bit strange as well now. I don’t eat ketchup, or mustard. I steer clear of most condiments and as a rule of thumb I don’t eat sauces. (Not ALL sauces, just most.) I don’t eat cheese, at all. Mostly because I’m lactose intolerant, but also because cheese is super mega unhealthy for you. I also eat a lot of baked fish when I’m not eating fast food or junk. Exercise wise, I walk around a lot. You gotta move around more than you eat, I’m not the smartest out there with fitness to be honest, but it works for me! I actually need to exercise more, so I’m considering a gym membership.

Caramel: I’m so sorry about those experiences you went through, especially during such a formative age. But look at you now. Is seafood your fave?

Lana: Yes! I’m a Gulf Coast girl for life! I love all sorts of fish, and seafood. Crawfish boils are amazing and I can make some great fried catfish. I have a lot of Cajun family, so seafood was pretty big for us. I could literally only eat fish for the rest of my life and probably be happy, I just really love the ocean and all the delicious things it gives us.

Caramel: One day you tweeted how cool it would be to work with local models. Soon after, there’s a photo of you with Trixxy Von Tease. Can we expect to see you on in the future?

Lana: Nothing as of yet! We just met up! We’re both from Houston and decided we’d hang out for a bit. As I’m sure you know by now I’m all about making new friends! But nope, nothing was filmed, but who knows what may happen in the future?

Caramel: I just had to put that out there in the world. I love her site. Who would you like to meet in the industry, that you haven’t already?

Lana: Don’t make me pick!!! There are way too many people that I’d like to meet!

Caramel: No need to name names. I’ll bet we’ll see some amazing things happening in that area someday though. How is your trip to Vegas going? How fun is it?

Lana: It’s amazing, I’m really liking the city and hanging out with my friends. I even managed to do a shoot while I was here, so everything’s turning up Lana! Super excited for the rest of my trip and coming back to visit again!

Caramel: Do you have any goals in the remainder of 2016?

Lana: Hm, Goals. Welp! I want to move outta my parents house by the end of the year hopefully. It’d be neat to go to an awards show too, but I’m just gonna take things slow and work really hard. My goal I guess is to have a lot of fun and do the very best I can! Super simple right?

Caramel: Simple no, but definitely attainable. What is your favorite gift you’ve received?

Lana: Someone really bought me a brand new tenor ukulele. It’s fantastic and probably one of the nicest ukuleles I’ve ever owned.

Caramel: What is the one item on your wish list you’ve been dying to receive?

Lana: I’ve really been wanting to get a laptop for gaming/camming. I use my desktop right now and I kinda wanna be more mobile. Also, I wanna play games and cam on the go!

Caramel: On May 27th you came on your Twitter timeline! I don’t actually have a question about that. It was simply a great moment in time. Please continue to keep us updated about your new accomplishments and events on Twitter. Thank you for doing this interview with me, Lana.

Lana: It was pretty a pretty good moment, wasn’t it? xD And thank you so much for the opportunity! I’ll definitely keep you posted! Goodbye everyone!!! <3 <3 <3
